How to Get Through Difficult Times

Life and business are not predictable as it can change on a dime. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. It is during these difficult times with how we respond in these moments that clearly defines your true character.

When you can improve your ability to handle the difficult times, you not only live a happier life, but you also grow as person along with your business. Here are some ideas you can implement during these times to come out ahead.

1) Practice Mindfulness – Be in the Moment

This process simply involves 10 to 15 minutes of mediation daily focusing on your breath being in the moment.  It is not about trying to control your thoughts but letting them flow naturally.  Next, you want to write down your thoughts or whatever comes to mind in a journal without overthinking or over analyzing these thoughts. Also, you should include how you feel whether positive or negative.  In time, you will have the ability to look at yourself from a third party perspective and make adjustments where necessary to improve your situation.

Practicing mindfulness each morning and if you can during pockets of your day leads to more awareness, clarity, decisiveness, and massive action.  You have the ability to overcome limited beliefs which house negative emotions and move toward the solution within associated with positive thoughts.

2) Be Creative

There are times when you can’t do much to change your situation. You just have to go with the flow. However, there are times where you have some control to make the situation better.

This step works hand and hand being present as depicted above.  With more awareness and clarity, you have the ability to step back and see the bigger picture.  There is more opportunity around you to find ways to solve the problem to your current situation.

3) Focus on the Process that Leads to Change

Being mindful allows you to focus on the process to change your situation.  It is not simply changing everything the next day because this is not sustainable.  Only embracing the process, staying truly committed to it while being accountable leads to change that is sustainable long-term.

4) Be Grateful

Gratitude means showing appreciation for all the good things, experiences, and people in your life, instead of focusing on the negative. It is important to get clear about what it is that you’re grateful for and this should become part of your daily routine. .

Write out everything in your life you can think of that you’re grateful for having or experiencing. The difficult time you’re going through will start to seem less significant when it’s compared to everything that’s going right in your life and business.

5) Focus on Your Strengths and What You Can Control

Some situations are beyond your control and no matter what you do, you can’t change the situation.  Why create more frustration for yourself?   Focus more on your strengths and what you can control during these difficult times.  Let the rest go by being in the flow.  Make a list of everything you can control about the situation and divert all of your focus towards those things. Anything that’s not on the list, doesn’t get any attention.

6) Forgive and Be Kind to Yourself

It is important during these tough times to take care of yourself.  This means physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  Eat right, go to the gym, take long walks, etc.  It doesn’t matter what you do, just do something that aligns your mind and body to be engaged at a higher level to offset any self-pity.

Make a firm mental note to forgive the source to any problem whether if the situation itself or a person involved. It is common for people to have resentment toward others in these situations which leads to anger.  This never solves the problem and just makes it worse long term.   When you learn to truly forgive it clears the air for more positive energy and light to change your situation.

This is just a summary to help you get through difficult period in your life and business.  Start here and begin to master the art of mindfulness, gratefulness, and forgiveness. Then watch as situations that were once very difficult to get through will not be so bad next time.

To your health & prosperity,
