Our society is so caught up with the idea that finding happiness is found with material things and certain lifestyles that will make our lives better. We are constantly being pitched products and services via media how they can make our lives easier. The reality is this is an illusion that never fills us up and thus where contentment comes in.
What is contentment? It is finding a state of happiness and satisfaction with the simple things in life. While having a new car is exciting the feeling will not last but each day enjoying the little things in life add up to truly experience contentment which satisfies the soul. A constant state of happiness is never sustainable as our expectations with newer and better things will never be enough.
The people who seem to have the most contentment in life have something that brings them a sense of purpose. It could be a creative project or involvement serving or helping others.. In my case, I have discovered that my work as an Life & Business Strategist fulfills my purpose and what gets me out of bed each morning. It is different for everyone and this is what I share with my clients when they come to me requiring direction or lacking enthusiasm in their lives. I consult with them to think clearly about the things that bring meaning to their life and that give them a sense of purpose and then look for ways to fulfill that purpose.
So what can you do today to start bringing contentment into your life? Take a brisk walk each early morning being focused in the moment. Take in everything around you including what you hear. You will be amazed how refreshing it can be and how it can improve the quality of your business and personal life. The positive feelings these moments bring are meant to be savored. There are many ways to experience contentment in your life. You just have to find what works for you. In my experience, once you start this process, it becomes easier and easier. It is about taking the time to honor ourselves and those around us.
Contentment is a choice. Make the choice to be you and enjoy the simpler things in life that bring peace and joy. Your emotional and physical well-being of yourself will improve providing more energy to pursue the things you enjoy. You will have gratitude and thank yourself each day the decision to embrace contentment into your life.
To your health & prosperity,
